It
takes a computer these days to be an effective contest operator and to
control a SO2R station. I use an older Dell model computer which
interfaces with the two radios and MicroHam MK2R+ SO2R controller via
either general operations or specialized contest logging software.
Key attributes of an
effective software and hardware environment for my ham station are
sufficient memory to handle the applications and enough monitor space to
be able to see and interface with the complex logging and control
applications. In my case I use 6 GB of random access memory and
two 17" monitors.
I use the DXLabs
application suite for general logging and the N1MM logger for
contesting. Each does exactly what I need. And best of all,
they are freeware. The two snapshots below show my nominal screen
layout for N1MM Logger and the DX Labs suite. Please click on the
thumbnail to enlarge the graphic.

Please click the
appropriate button to access the manufacture's site these software
applications.
