I replaced my FT-1000MP MK V and FT-450 with an Elecraft K3 which provides HF and 6 meter capability in a single transceiver.  I use the Tokyo High Power HL-1.5KFX amplifier which is an autotune 1 KW output amplifier on all bands 160 through 6 meters.

This transceiver/amplifier pair work well together.  Once connected, it is like having a kilowatt transceiver at your fingertips with full QSK for CW operators like me.  Band changes are instantaneous - perfect for someone with no patience at all.

The K3 came with a selection of roofing filters that provide a rock solid front end selectivity which is essential in SO2R contesting.  The HL-1.5KFX is a 1 KW solid state auto-tune amplifier that gets it's band change data from the K3.
